Intricately created by world famous hotel designer Jean-Michel Gathy of Denniston International Architects and Planners, this 52 square metre mock up room is the smallest unit in the hotel but an expression of the wider philosophy. The room gives a charming impression of what life as an owner or guest at The Chedi Andermatt, located at the heart of Andermatt, will entail. Overlooking the original village of Andermatt and beyond to the commanding mountain valley, this room conveys a sense of luxury, comfort, class and energy through its carefully conceived colour schemes, locally sourced materials and innovative features and design.
A striking monochromatic mural printed on canvas, emulating Peter Paul Rubens’ 17th century painting, covers the expanse of a 4 metre wall and presents a contemporary approach to a traditional Swiss trait. Similarly, a comparable modern accent has been applied to the authentic timber-clad wall behind the bed which features antique lanterns to give the feeling of a starry night’s sky. Meanwhile, other furniture has been designed to allow for ‘adjustable living’ wherever possible, illustrated by the fireplace, which can be enjoyed from both the outside terrace and the chic interior space, or the possibility to watch TV or the spectacular Alpine scenery from the bathtub. To further enhance the modern accent of The Chedi Andermatt, the incorporation of technology has been integral to the room management design.
